Jewellery Making

Our Monday Jewellery class welcomes students of all abilities including those with sensory, physical or learning difficulties. Run by a practising qualified artist and a helpful experienced volunteer, students will be instructed in the safe use of hand tools and shown practical techniques to enable them to create stylish wearable pieces of costume jewellery of their choice and at their own pace.

Jewellery making is a relaxing and sociable activity where participants recognise others efforts, achievements and skills, interacting through the sharing of equipment and ideas which often results in the building of new friendships.

We use a wide variety of materials but mainly focus on Silver- plated wire in different widths to create bracelets, earrings, brooches, necklaces and rings that can then be embellished with re-cycled beads and charms. Old broken or unwanted jewellery can be brought in by students and re-styled into new contemporary pieces to wear or use as a gift.
